I wrote about board games a few days ago, and I thought I'd share this. As I said our family goes away for a few days over every other New Year, and one of the games we always take is Monopoly. But this year, everyone forgot it...dun dun dunnnnnn!
So we decided to make our own.
We scrabbled round getting every piece of paper and pen we could find, then set about making the board and pieces. We changed all the properties, chance and community chest cards to be personal for us, and then copied the outline of the properties onto the board, filling them in with half-dead pens. Luckily we already had dice, but we had to come up with ideas for players. As we were talking about this we were eating a delicious box of chocolates, so decided to make each one out of the wrappers, and we cut up the box for houses and hotels. It's scraggly and messy but I absolutely love it, and know it'll be a great memory to dig out for many New Years to come.
Good idea!
ReplyDeletethis looks great! I remember when I was a kid that me and my sis made our own paper dolls and dozens and dozens of clothes for them... it was WAY more fun than buying one. ;D
ReplyDeleteI've always hated Monopoly..
